The Traveller Bedroom

Six pieces including the mirror make up this beautiful collection. The collection is named after the customer’s dog which in turn had the honor of being named after Robert E. Lee’s favorite horse used during the Civil War. Each piece is made from solid Hickory. All of the casework has Cedar T&G backs as well as Cedar Dovetailed drawers. The finish is a Bartley’s Jet Mahogany Gel Stain. Final  finish is made of three coats of rubbing varnish.

Pensacola Bay Bed

 Pablo Bed

The headboard for this bed is actually an old Cypress door from a house in New Orleans. This is a King Size frame with 12 inch by 2 inch thick solid Poplar sides and foot rails. The rails for the headboard were made of Hard Maple. The whole piece was painted soft white and then distressed to keep with the appearance of the old door.

The Pensacola Bay Bed's bow was modeled after a Chris Craft boat but with added storage.  The stern is modeled after a spoiler from a power boat, though it is complete with shelving and portholes.  Made from a combination of Cypress and Ponderosa Pine.  Finished with “Light Pine” Velvit Oil. Your kids can sail the high seas or  cruise the shores with this one. Click for more detailed photos.

 “Valentine’s” Mirror

Jolly Roger

Selling Price $1,800

This was a fun piece. The entire bed except for headboard is made from Bamboo Flooring left over from Hurricane Ivan. We put the piece together with the flooring upside down to give it that shiplap joinery look. This one was full size and was completed with ladder, trap door, ship’s wheel and cannon. The best part was the priceless look on the little man’s face who has the pleasure of sailing it nightly.

This was one of the first pieces I made on a professional level in 1996. It was a Valentines Day present for my wife.(then my girlfriend) It was made from scrap Redwood, Birch, and Basswood.
