Strypes Cutting Board/Server

The “Pub” Island

Yet another piece that was pulled from the rafters of my shop after spending some fifteen years there. It was a cabinet carcass that was fnished with left over pieces from past projects. Since an ancestor of mine was involved in building the Guiness distillery in Ireland, I found it fitting to add this tin to the door. The top is engineered wood finished with a Sherman Williams flat black oil paint and then rolled with five coats of high gloss polyurethane which gave it a deep orange peel look.

Seaman’s Chest

The Chest is made of  Walnut and it was finished with two coats of Velvit oil, a hammer, a bag of nuts  and bolts, an iron brush, and a rasp. Pretty much everything was thrown at it to  distress the wood.  It was also pulled across the driveway at least two times a  day for a week to distress the bottom.  Rusted steel hardware and a lock was  then added as a finishing touch. Click the picture to see the hardware and  distressed finish up close.

The “Saur” Bar

Made from African Mahogany. Finished with Teak Oil. Then varnished and coated with rubbed Poly. It measures 4’ in width with a depth of 18”

Selling Price $2,450

For the “Rucker”

Selling Price $320

A customer came to me with a Mahogany ship’s wheel and said to me that he wanted to display this wheel, yet still have the use and fun of steering it. Here is what we came up with. A perfectly matched stand, angled slighlty with a standing area. Just so the Grandkids could really give it a spin.

The Rooke’s Bench

This was simply made to replace five cumbersome bar stools. This is an African Mahogany bench, distressed slightly, then finished with teak oil and rubbed poly. Notice the sqaure peg joinery at the bottom of the slat legs.

Selling Price: $658.00

 “Bay View” Mirror
